Scaffolding in Redruth

Tall Victorian frontages on a street that falls away under you, and open high ground above the town that takes the wind first. Both change how a scaffold is built. We work Redruth from our Penzance yard, with the scope and the price in writing before it starts.

Scaffolding in Redruth You Can Trust

Redruth is around half an hour from our yard, a few minutes further along the A30 than Camborne, and it is ground our gangs are on most weeks.

Two things about the town change the job. The first is height. Fore Street and the West End carry three-storey Victorian and late-Georgian frontages, most of them shop or office at street level with flats stacked above, on a street that falls sharply as it runs. A scaffold there is more lifts than a domestic job, it needs a base stepped and levelled to the fall, and it usually needs a pedestrian gantry so the business underneath stays open.

The second is exposure. Carn Brea stands over the town, and the ground climbing towards it through Carnkie, Treleigh and Trewirgie sits high and open. Sheeting up there behaves like a sail, so the tie schedule and whether we sheet at all are decided by the elevation and the season, not by habit.

Below that, Illogan and Pool are steadier ground: terraced cottages, semis and estate housing with somewhere sensible to put a base plate.

Why Redruth Customers Choose JJ Cornwall Scaffolding

Domestic scaffolding in Cornwall: granite house with dormers scaffold over a slate lean to roof

Structural experience, not just domesticJordan's experience includes work at South Crofty tin mine, on the Pool side of Redruth, along with the Dawlish rail reconstruction and Hayle viaduct. That is the background that decides how a three-storey frontage on a falling street gets designed, and it is unusual in a firm that will also come and scaffold your chimney.

Built for the exposure, not in spite of itTie schedules and sheeting are specified for the elevation you actually have, which on the ground below Carn Brea is not the same specification as a sheltered street in town.

Common Scaffolding Jobs in Redruth

Redruth work splits in two. In the town centre it is commercial and mixed-use: multi-lift access to Victorian frontages, gantries to keep shopfronts open, and work programmed around trading hours.

Out towards Illogan, Carnkie and Lanner it is domestic: re-roofs, chimney stacks, render and window jobs on exposed cottages and terraces. The one that spans both is the temporary roof, because on high ground the weather decides the programme unless you take that decision away from it.

Frequently asked questions

Do you cover Redruth?+
Yes. The town, plus Illogan, Pool, Carn Brea, Carnkie, Treleigh, Trewirgie and Lanner. Redruth is a few minutes further along the A30 than Camborne, around half an hour from the yard, so it is regular ground rather than an outer edge and sits inside our normal working week. Tell us the address and we will confirm the access before pricing.
How much does scaffolding cost in Redruth?+
Priced per job, quoted free and in writing. In Redruth the number is usually driven by lift height, because the town centre stock is taller than most of West Cornwall. A three-storey Fore Street frontage with a gantry over the pavement carries more lifts, more boarding and a licence, so it prices differently to a two-lift job on a cottage in Illogan.
Do I need a licence to put scaffolding on the pavement in Redruth?+
If any part of the structure stands on the pavement or the highway, which on Fore Street and the West End it usually has to, Cornwall Council requires a licence. We make the application as your contractor and it is in place before we erect. The cost is stated in your written quote, not added afterwards.
How quickly can you get to Redruth?+
Around half an hour from Penzance, straight up the A30. You get a firm date when we quote rather than a rough week. If you need a particular morning, say so then and we will tell you straight whether we can hold it. Two gangs work out of one yard, so an honest answer is worth more to you than an optimistic one.
Do you do temporary roofs and specialist scaffolding in Redruth?+
Yes, and Redruth is one of the places it earns its keep. A temporary roof over an open re-roof on the high ground towards Carn Brea takes the weather out of the programme. We also build birdcage decks, bridged structures over extensions and glazing, and gantried commercial access.
