Our Scaffolding Work Across Cornwall
The fairest way to judge a scaffolder is the work already standing. These are real JJ scaffolds on real Cornish buildings, put up by our own gangs, photographed on site rather than borrowed from a catalogue.
Recent Scaffolding Jobs Across West Cornwall
Every Photograph Here Is Our Own Work
There is no stock photography on this page and nothing lifted from a supplier's brochure. Every image is a scaffold our gangs designed, loaded and erected, photographed on the job.
Cornish buildings are what make this trade interesting. Granite terraces on a slope, cottages down a lane too narrow for a lorry, clifftop houses taking the weather straight off the Atlantic, shop frontages that have to stay open and trading while we work over the pavement. A scaffold that suits one of them will not suit the next, which is why almost nothing we put up is a standard job.
The work below is grouped by type, so you can find something close to your own building.
Scaffolds on Cornish Homes, from Chimney Towers to Full Wraps
Most of what we do is domestic: houses, cottages, terraces, bungalows and extensions across West Cornwall. These are the jobs where access is the real problem rather than the height, granite frontages with no level ground, narrow lanes, sloping streets, rocky ground and gardens the tube has to be carried through by hand.
Independent scaffolds, chimney towers, gable runs and full roof level access, tied and boarded so the trade on top can get on.
Shopfronts, Trade Units and Street Frontages That Stay Open
Commercial work carries a second problem on top of the scaffold itself: the public. Shop parades, town centre frontages and trade units have to keep trading and keep people walking past safely underneath.
That means debris netting, pedestrian barriers, covered walkways and gantries, sequenced so the building stays in use while the work happens above it.
Sheeted Temporary Roofs That Keep the Weather Out
A temporary roof is the difference between a re-roof that runs to plan through a Cornish winter and one that stops every time it rains.
We build fully sheeted temporary roofs over houses and larger buildings, giving the trades underneath a dry, boarded deck to work from and keeping the weather off an open structure. It is the most technical scaffold we put up and the one clients ask about most.
Safe Access to the Stack, Tied and Boarded
Chimney work needs a proper tower with a boarded working platform at the stack, not a ladder leaned against the roof.
Whether it is a terrace chimney in the middle of a row or a stack on an exposed clifftop house, the tower goes up tied, boarded and signed off.
Structures Where the Building Cannot Be Marked
Heritage work is where Jordan's background outside domestic scaffolding shows. Rail, mining and heritage structures all share one rule: the scaffold serves the building, and the building does not get damaged to suit the scaffold.
That means internal birdcages under exposed roof structures, independent scaffolds that stand off historic stonework, and working decks built to reach an apex without touching what is underneath.
Scaffold Supplied, Erected and Collected
Alongside our own contracts we hire scaffold out to builders, roofers and contractors working across Cornwall, erected by our gangs and struck when the job finishes.
We have not photographed the hire jobs separately, because the scaffold in the photographs above is the same scaffold, put up by the same gangs, to the same standard.
